Asset snapshot

Project name: Mannum Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

Location: Mannum, South Australia

Nameplate capacity: 100MW / 200MWh

Year commissioned: 2025

Number of homes powered: 16,000 per day

The BESS will store surplus energy and feed it back into the grid at peak usage times.

About Mannum BESS

The Mannum BESS is located alongside Epic’s two solar farms at the Mannum Energy Park with its own separate grid connection.

The BESS stores excess renewable energy to supply to the electricity grid during peak demand periods, supporting consistency of renewable energy supply. This means a cleaner, more reliable power grid for South Australians.

The BESS can send 100 megawatts of power into the electricity grid for up to two hours – enough to power about 16,000 South Australian homes each day.

The project was delivered by e-STORAGE, who also provided the battery components, and Adelaide-based specialist Consolidated Power Projects.

Epic Energy oversaw construction and will continue to own and operate the BESS.
